Legion Fight Night

On February 25th the Legion hosted “Fight Night- Kansas City Fighting Alliance 22”! There were over 70 Veterans and Legion members in attendance with over 30 of them renting a bus and taking a ride from the Post to the fights, which were held at the Truman Memorial Building in Independence, MO. Post 19 was also very proud to host the Gilbert’s, a Gold Star Family, at the event. Our members were honored to meet and spend time with a fallen hero’s family. The fights went by quite quickly but Johnnie Ray Roades Jr, who is managed by SAL member Robert Carver, put on a huge display for the crowd and stole the show with a very intense and hard fought battle.  Even though Johnnie took a defeat, he was extremely appreciative of Post 19’s support and joined everyone at the after party for some food, drinks and fun at the Flamingo Lounge. We were very proud of Johnnie, his sportsmanship and him taking the time to take pictures with the Gilbert’s and the members and Veterans of Post 19. We look forwarding to hosting more of these events that bring all four of our groups together for fun, fights and a night of camaraderie!
