Newsletter Notes

From your adjutants/membership chairs:  As of January 31, 2017, members club privileges are suspended until payment of dues is made for 2017.  Auxiliary Senior dues are $20, Juniors dues are $3.50 for 2017, and Legion dues are $40.  You may drop your dues off at the Post in the mailbox beside the flagpole anytime, or send them to American Legion Post #19 315 Meadowbrook Cir. Gardner, KS 66030.  Please mark the envelope for Auxiliary or Legion.  If you are unsure of whether or not you have submitted your renewal, please contact Post Adjutant Jim Simpson 913-278-5527,  Auxiliary Membership Chair Danedri Herbert 913-706-6394, SAL Adjutant Bill O’Connor 913-302-8549, immediately to make arrangements.  Legionnaires, if you would like to renew on-line, and even set up “auto renew” for every year on July 9th, go to http://www.legion.org/renew to do so.  You may print off your membership card at that time as well.  Renewals and new memberships are vital to our survival.  Even if you don’t have time to attend meetings, or be very active at this time, please renew your membership.  Our veterans and their families need you.  As always, all groups would love to see a bigger turnout at their meetings and events!  Thank you!

 

Legionnaires ONLY – In order to meet statutory requirements of the IRS, every American Legion Post must maintain physical evidence of all members’ military service. This can be a copy of your DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, Active duty military ID card or other evidence of honorable military service to include dates to show service during our organization’s membership eligibility periods.  The penalty for not having a copy of each member’s honorable service record is may affect our Post’s qualification for tax-exempt status. Please send, or drop off, a copy of your DD-214, or other evidence of honorable military separation as soon as possible. Your SSN and medical information can be removed or lined out.  Does the post have your copy on file?  Yes: ___­_ No: ____. If no, you can mail it to: American Legion Post #19 315 S. Meadowbrook Cir. Gardner, KS 66030 or scan and email it to the Post Adjutant at [email protected].
